Eurolink, the leading software solutions provider for residential property management, has raised £731 as part of a campaign to help out British troops in Afghanistan and their families. The money was raised after Eurolink pledged to donate £10 to an appeal by the Coldstream Guards for soldiers and their families for each software presentation in the run-up to Christmas.

The firm also sold special Coldstream Guards Wristbands to help generate extra cash for the fund.

Handing over a cheque to Army Careers Advisor Lance Sergeant Simon Hebson, Eurolink director Nigel Poole said: “Through the generosity of our clients and our pledge to contribute from presentations booked during the qualifying period I’m delighted we have been able to donate £731 in support of this worthy cause.

“We are pleased that our Eurolink clients have helped us raise so much money towards this appeal.

“We hope it will help soldiers and their loved ones through whatever situation they find themselves in as a result of putting their lives on the line for our country.

“We owe them a tremendous debt of gratitude which I hope this cheque will go a very small way to help pay back.”

The wristband awareness campaign was set up by the Coldstream Guards to assist the families of those members of the Battalion who are killed in action by supporting funeral costs beyond what the Army already provides.

It also aims to support those injured on operations and their families to help with costs incurred to make alterations to their homes if needed.

In addition, the campaign assists families of those currently deployed to help them cope with separation.

And it aids soldiers returning from operations – helping facilitate their transition to normal life.

High-profile backers of the campaign include TV gardener Alan Titchmarsh and new WBA heavyweight boxing champion David Haye.

The future of property marketing on the internet is changing and Eurolink clients will be first to benefit.Eurolink, the leading software solutions provider for residential property management, has moved quickly to ensure its clients will be among the first to benefit when the new Google property portal launches in the UK.

The portal will use Google Maps as its search mechanism and properties will be uploaded from Google Base which updates the maps

Eurolink’s Veco system has been adapted to ensure client property information is continuously uploaded to Google Base.

Client sales and rental property details can be added by Eurolink so they are displayed within the Google Maps map window. A link to the client agent’s website is also visible along with the standard Google Maps features.

Eurolink director Richard Murray said: “Google’s new portal will have a major impact on the UK property industry when it goes live.

“Agents need to ensure they are able to get their properties on the portal otherwise they will lose out to their competitors in terms of both marketing exposure and business.

“Because our Veco system is highly adaptive, Eurolink clients will be the first to take advantage of the new Google portal because our system is able to link directly to Google Base.

“We will upload our clients’ properties every day in an XML format which Google will process. Each client will have to have a Google Base account set up.”

“This historic low is having a positive impact on getting the housing market moving again – albeit slowly.

“It is however crucial that lenders help potiential borrowers by easing lending restrictions from now onwards so that the property industry can look forward to continued and sustained market growth in 2010.”

Chancellor Alistair Darling’s Pre-Budget report failed to extend the stamp duty holiday on lower-value homes.

The break – currently for properties £175,000 or less avoids paying the 1% tax – ends on 1 January after being introduced in September 2008.The threshold will now return to its previous level of £125,000.

Commenting on the stamp duty decision, Eurolink director Richard Murray said: “Raising the threshold for stamp duty to £175,000 has helped the property sector through the most turbulent times in recent memory.

“While it is true that the higher threshold had little impact on London and the South East where properties are more expensive, it has helped many first-time buyers and those on a low income elsewhere in the country.

“With the likelihood of pay freezes for those remaining in employment it would surely have been a more sensible option for the Chancellor to have kept the stamp duty threshold at £175,000 for another 12 months at least.

“By hitting first-time buyers hardest, dropping the stamp duty threshold to £125,000 risks stagnating the housing market just at the point where recovery was starting to take hold.”

House prices rose by 0.5% in November, the same rate as in October, according to the latest Nationwide Monthly House Price Index.

Year-on-year house price inflation has now increased from 2.0% to 2.7%.

At £162,764, the average house price is at a similar level to where it was in early 2006.

The three month on three month rate of change ? generally a smoother indicator of the near term trend ? dropped to 2.8% from 3.5% in October and 3.8% in September.

Eurolink director Richard Murray said: “The emergence from the housing slump is slow but it is still happening as these figures indicate.

“While there is some considerable way to go before house prices return to their pre-crash levels, the outlook is positive.

“A number of factors will have an impact on recovery – one of which is the level of unemployment. If this continues to rise then the housing recovery will slow.

“The reintroduction of stamp duty from £125,000 in 2010 will have a small impact – but it is the availability of mortgages which remains critical.”

The judging panel was impressed with Young London’s attention to detail and excellent standards of service.

Young London’s authority on developments within the property industry and local knowledge, along with its monthly market report, London Update, were regarded as “extremely impressive”.

The judges said: “The professionalism of each member of Young London forms the backbone of their business; they have an analytical approach to evaluating the market and investment opportunities, reaping well-deserved rewards.”

Eurolink director Richard Murray said: “Congratulations to Young London on its Gold award from the Sunday Times.

“This agency has worked hard to develop its excellent reputation in the lettings sector and this has clearly been recognised by the judges.

“Young London has been using Eurolink’s Veco system for some time and we are delighted to be working with yet another progressive forward-thinking firm that is going from strength to strength.”

The latest data from Land Registry?s flagship House Price Index shows a positive monthly house price change of 0.6%, which is the fifth month in a row in which prices have gone up.

The annual change stands at -3.4%. This is the sixth month in a row in which the fall in annual change has decreased. The average house price in England and Wales is now £159,546.

All regions in England and Wales experienced a decrease in their average property values over the last 12 months.

Eurolink director Richard Murray said: “This reflects the price movements reported by our clients across the UK. House prices continue to edge back up from the brink and it looks as though the worst is probably over.

“The pace of recovery is still dependent on access to mortgage funds, where restrictions do look to be easing.

“However, the protracted and deepening nature of this recession may well continue to impact on house prices if unemployment keeps rising.”
